within the interpreter team
The success of an international gathering depends on the seamless communication among all delegates and therefore on the quality of the interpretation. Quality is not a coincidence: it is the result of the work of highly professional interpreters working together as a team.
Conference interpreters have been formally trained as such and they maintain their skills by means of continued training, extending both their general and subject-specific, technical knowledge (lifelong learning). They take their role in and responsibility for the communication process seriously and engage in thorough pre-assignment preparation and research before commencing an assignment.
In order to ensure the quality of their interpreting, conference interpreters must work together as a team. This means, among other things, that they do their preparation work together, support each other and are fair and transparent in their dealings with one another; all in order to ensure seamless and high-quality communication for their clients and all delegates at an international gathering.
